I love social media marketing. Which is good, because this is my business! One of the reasons that I love it so much, is because it allows the ‘little guy’ to get their message out into the world, without having to have the budget of a big business.
One of the things that I find frustrating is when I speak to a business owner that doesn’t feel that social media ads anything to their marketing. “How can you tell it is working?” they ask. And that is a legitimate question. If you are going to spend money on social media, it should have some measure of success. But let’s get real, a lot of that success is hard to measure.
We know repetition works in marketing. It may take you seeing something 5-12 times (!) before you even remember seeing it. Social media marketing will certainly help you get in front of your marketing and helps you deliver content that they will want to engage it. So how do you measure that? Can you really?
Business owners sometimes hold social media marketing to a different standard then their other types of marketing. How do you know that your newspaper ad is converting? How do you know that you TV commercial was delivered to your target market?
Social media marketing does work -but sometimes it is not as measurable as we would like.
